Vending Machines- tips on how to Keep Your Accounts

By: Jayne Manziel

In the vending machine industry, everyone knows that your vending accounts are your bread and butter. You must manage your vending accounts well in order for your vending business to keep on running.

Here are some of my tips to keep your accounts get going:

- Keep your vending machines serviced in a timely manner.

Make sure to check regularly if your vending machines are working properly to avoid losing customers and to avoid the hassle it may cause to the keeper.

- Keep your vending machines stocked with fresh products.

- Keep your vending machines cleaned.

Make sure that you clean your vending machines often, it is not good seeing dirty hand prints on the glass of your vending machines. It may even turn off some customers.

- Always be friendly to everyone.

Be sure to be mindful of your attitude when servicing your vending machines. Take time to smile and say "Hi". Ask people if they are happy with your vending machine service and offer to put in products they like.

- Stock products in your vending machines that they request.

Remember that each vending machine location is unique. The people from the warehouse may like different products from what the people in the accounting like. It is a good idea to optimize the product mix for each machine individually.

- If a vending machine breaks get out there as fast as possible to repair it.

Make sure to fix problems with your vending machines quickly. Get it done within a couple of hours after the complaint.

- Give the decision maker maybe a 6 pack of his/her favorite drinks or some candy monthly or every so often.

This is not really about pleasing the decision maker but for continuously expressing your gratitude to him.

- Be sure to leave them change just incase any of your vending machines take some ones money.

In some cases, if your vending machines gets used a lot, the keeper will get numerous requests for refunds. Depending on the number of refund requests, you might consider giving the keeper a "petty cash" fund of about $5 so she can make refunds immediately, to keep customers from getting mad at you.

- Be sure to provide them with nice, clean and in good working condition vending machines from the get-go.

When setting up vending machines at a new location, don't fill it up until you get there. You won't know what products other vending machines may have. Also, if you have to change out a product you will be making all kinds of noise and mess which won't look good especially if you are just starting out. If you are done putting in all the products, make sure that the vending machines are giving the right amount of product and change.

- Speak to the decision maker before you leave out and make sure they are ok with everything as far as the vending machines.

- If your vending machines are breaking down often you better get a different machine installed immediately or end up losing that account.

As you might noticed, running a vending machine business is not at all easy. It requires your dedication and commitment to make sure everything is working well to your advantage.
