Why I Love Chain Food Restaurants

By: Patricia Farnham

The other day I was out of town for a relaxing day that includes plenty of shopping. I stopped at a restaurant and ordered a chili burger. This is my favorite food and I was really looking forward to eating it. I went to an unknown restaurant that happened to be in the area where I was working.

I was shocked when I got a huge platter with more food on it than I normally eat all day. I was also disappointed as the chili was different than what I am used to. Instead of something homemade with green chilies and pork that I get from my local diner, I am sure this particular chili was from a can that they just heated up.

I guess knowing what you are going to get when you place an order is why chain restaurants are so popular. You won't have the same disappointment that I experienced on this trip. It doesn't matter if you go to the same location all the time or one in another state - you are going to get the same thing at both places. There is a great deal of comfort for people associated with this.

Traveling is a common theme for many people. They go to visit family members, to take care of business for their jobs, and to take a well deserved vacation as a break from their daily routine. Regardless of the reason for why they are traveling though they will all need to eat. A chain restaurant takes the guess work out of what your meal will consist of and what it will taste like.

It isn't uncommon for people to tend to go for what they are familiar with. Having a good experience at a given chain restaurant means people will likely go there again and again. This can be to their local establishment a well as to ones all over the country. People often associate the logos and advertisements of a particular chain restaurant with something that is very satisfying for them.

This can really work to the advantage of the owner of such a restaurant. They don't have to prove themselves as a quality place as this has already been established for them. They will also have the right equipment to operate the business and training on the best practices to implement.

If things aren't going well for that chain restaurant name though it can have an adverse affect on everyone. The media tends to swarm over issues about people getting sick eating at a particular chain restaurant, sanitation issues, and special circumstances that come up. The image that the public gets from such information can adversely affect your level of customers.

In theory, you always know what you will get with a chain restaurant. This can be a safe bet and you can get your favorite items. However, you also miss out on the experience of trying new restaurants. You may soon discover some of them are much better than the chain restaurants you have been visiting for years.
